The game begins by showing a short summary of the events of the old games in the series, and something new: the bankruptcy of the Umbrella Corporation is announced; due to the actions of Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker, a fact reported in Umbrella Chronicles. The protagonist of RE4 is Leon S. Kennedy, a survivor of Raccoon City, who now works as a secret agent for the US government. Leon must investigate the suspicions of Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter, who has been kidnapped and apparently in a remote village in Spain. Leon is assisted by Ingrid Hunnigan, who gives him information on the ground.
