Scenario
After Santa Claus (codename: Red One) is kidnapped, the North Pole’s security chief (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most notorious bounty hunter (Chris Evans) on an action-packed mission around the globe to save Christmas. If you want to watch a movie on Friday night after a long week and eat popcorn and just be entertained, this is the movie for you.
The best cinema experience in recent months
After the movie, you can go home or to a bar and start the rest of the evening in a good mood and relaxed from the work week. It’s not an Oscar movie, it’s an entertaining movie and it does its job as entertainment incredibly well.
None of the jokes are embarrassing or too cheap
The script doesn’t take itself too seriously, but someone read the script and reworked it to make it decent. There are some obvious jokes, but they’re not over the top.
The magic is in applying rules and not just finding blanket solutions
The characters are believable, I would make the same choices in those situations. I don’t expect the characters to have too much depth, but they have sides that I didn’t expect and that I found fascinating.
